Get to know me:

Welcome to my practice! I'm Bri Dawkins, an Idaho-based counselor located in Boise, Idaho.

My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe in creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I enjoy working with teenagers and adults on depression and anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, trauma, women’s issues, life transitions, LGBTQ+ concerns, and spiritual/religious challenges.

I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University, a program known for its emphasis on ethical and culturally competent practice. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities. These opportunities have deepened my understanding of the complexities of the human experience and it’s incredibly important that I provide inclusive and affirming therapy for all.

My counseling approach is trauma-informed and I tailor treatment to your needs, interests, values, and strengths. There is no "one size fits all" in counseling. In my practice I integrate multiple counseling theories and strategies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, relaxation/grounding, exploring attachment wounds, strengthening boundaries, and improving communication skills. Some clients enjoy integrating creative arts like art and music as well. (EMDR is a researched-backed, powerful tool for healing trauma and/or negative beliefs about oneself, and I'd be happy to talk about it more with you if you are curious.)

Outside of my professional practice, I enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking and camping, making music, reading, and spending time with my friends, family, and one very spoiled puppy dog. I am a firm believer that maintaining a healthy work-life balance and taking care of myself informs my work as a therapist, and enriches my ability to connect with clients on a deeper level.
